Manganese bronze is a copper‑zinc alloy with manganese, iron and aluminum additions. It achieves very high tensile strength and good toughness under heavy shock and dynamic load.

Common applications include large gear blanks, propeller shafts, crank components and heavy‑duty structural parts. It absorbs impact energy well and is resistant to fatigue failure under repeated load.

Manganese bronze retains decent corrosion resistance in fresh water and coastal atmosphere, though it is not designed for continuous seawater immersion like cupronickel or aluminum bronze.
